Excursion Sainte-mère-eglise & utah beach tour at Cherbourg
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Leave Cherbourg and drive to Sainte-Mère-Eglise, located in the middle of the traditional Normandy livestock breeding area.
This town brutally entered the news headlines in 1944 when the US 82nd Airborne Division troops landed here and liberated Sainte-Mère-Eglise on June 6th. Enjoy a guided visit to the village. Just in front of the Town Hall, you will see Milestone Zero symbolizing the start of the Road to Freedom. Inside the church, a modern stained-glass window features the American parachute drop.
The tour continues by driving to Sainte-Marie-du-Mont; then relax for a scenic drive along Utah Beach with a stop en route at the Crisbecq Battery (outside view only; entrance fee not included) before you return directly to Cherbourg.
