Embrace the centuries old heritage, culture and traditions of the 'Imperial City' and its people during this scenic and informative, full-day excursion to Hue.

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.75-hour drive to Hue, the 'Imperial City'. Upon arrival, visit Thuy Bieu, the centuries-old village of Hue City. Located on the banks of the Perfume River, approximately four miles (about 6.4 kilometres) from Hue, the village remains mostly intact, despite the ravages of time and war. Its architecture is typical of the region, with ornamental fences carved out of trees and small cottages tucked away in luxuriant gardens. Whilst the outside world is ever-changing, this small slice of Vietnam remains in the past, a window into another time.


Open-Air Taxi-Ride, Local Home Visit, Incense- and Candy-Making, Ancestral Temple

Take an electric, open-air taxi to a local home. During your visit, tour the local home to learn how they live, and make incense and candy. A visit is also made to one of the oldest ancestral temples in this village to learn more about the worshiping culture of people in central of Vietnam. Following your visit, re-board your coach and head to the Ngoc Son Princess' Residency.


Ngoc Son Princess' Residency and Gardens House Tour

Constructed in 1921 under the reign of Khai Dinh and renowned as one of the traditional garden houses in Hue, the Ngoc Son Princess' Residency encompasses approximately 2.83-million square yards (about 2.37-million square metres). This beautiful old campus includes three compartments, two wings, one outbuilding and one kitchen. Upon arrival, you are welcomed by the current resident of this property, who escorts you on a private tour. A very refined woman, she explains the legacy of this property, which belonged to her great grandmother, a daughter of the Emperor Dong Khanh. The Gardens House has been kept by the family since the turn of the last century, almost seven generations. The gardens were laid out according to feng shui principles, and boasts a pleasant and serene setting.


Lunch, Hue Citadel, 'Luc Bo' Culture Space, Interactive Handicraft-Making Experience, Royal Tea

Following your guided tour, a Vietnamese lunch is served in the Gardens House. After lunch, re-board your coach and drive to the 'Luc Bo' Culture Space, a place that brings you closer to the culture of the Nguyen Dynasty and Hue's people. Located inside the Hue Citadel, the building was a former school of the Prince during the Nguyen Dynasty, and some of its historic vestiges still remains. During your visit, enjoy an opportunity to experience Hue traditional handicrafts such as painting a conical hat, making a kite and Hue lantern, and savouring royal tea. At the conclusion of this interactive cultural experience, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier.
