After leaving the port, follow your guide on a walk through the Marina area to enter the Castello or Casteddu district, as it is called by the inhabitants of Cagliari. As you proceed along the itinerary, you will be able to admire the Torre dell'Elefante, built at the beginning of the 14th century in Pisan style and renovated in 1906. Passing through Piazza Arsenale, you will head towards the 14th century citadel of Palazzo Regio and the Cathedral of Cagliari, originally built in Pisan/Romanesque style in the 13th century, then renovated in the 17th and 18th centuries to reflect a baroque aesthetic and finally restored to its neo-Romanesque appearance in the 1930s. The last destination will be the museum citadel located in the upper part of the city to visit the National Archaeological Museum . In addition to retracing the history of Sardinia from the pre-Nuragic age to the Byzantine era, the Museum houses an important collection of bronze statuettes, depicting both human and animal figures, and numerous treasures found in various sites in the region. Finally, you can choose whether to stay in the city center and return to the ship on your own or return immediately after your visit to the port.
Please note: as this excursion involves extensive walking, it is not recommended for guests with limited mobility.
