Excursion A hike in the wicklow mountains tour at Dublin

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Your day will commence with a 90 minute drive to Glendalough in County Wicklow. Glendalough is the site of a 6th Century monastic settlement and its ruined churches are scattered around two lakes. It also boasts some of the best scenery on the East Coast of Ireland.

On arrival in Glendalough you will commence your 3 and half hour walk through the stunning valley following the 'Spink Loop' Walk. Ascending 380m (1246 feet) and extending for 10 Km (6.2 miles) this moderate walk has a good mix of hills, paths and a board walk. Follow the Miners Road to the Miners Village before crossing Glenealo River.

From here your hike up the mountain will take you to an area affectionately named Van Diemen's Land. A refreshment stop and time to enjoy the spectacular scenery is allowed before commencing the return walk.

On your return will pass Pollanass Waterfall and the Lower Lake before arriving back in the valley.

Recommend ship provides guests with a 'snack box' for rest stop during walk.
