A 15-minute transfer from the port takes you to Pigeon Island, a beautifully preserved national park at the northern end of Rodney Bay. Known for its pivotal role in the 18th-century Napoleonic Wars, the island is now a significant monument to St. Lucia’s history.
Orientation & Free Exploration
Upon arrival, enjoy a brief island orientation before being set free to explore at your own pace for approximately 3.5 hours. Discover the island’s pristine sandy beaches, crystal-clear Caribbean waters, and scenic paths that wind past stunning coastlines and evocative ruins of stone barracks and batteries.
Visit Fort Rodney & Capture the Views
Hike uphill to the remnants of Fort Rodney, perched atop one of Pigeon Island’s twin peaks. From this hilltop vantage point, take in the breathtaking 360-degree views of northern St. Lucia and the surrounding waters—perfect for photos and sightseeing. Bring your camera!
Relax, Snack & Shop
If hunger or thirst strikes, visit the park’s gift shop or food kiosks just outside the park for a snack or drink, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere amidst historical ruins and scenic beauty.
Return To Rodney Bay
At the prearranged time, board your mini-coach for a short drive back to Rodney Bay and your waiting ship, ending a memorable day of history, nature, and breathtaking vistas.

Please Note: This moderate excursion involves a short walk from the Pigeon Island parking area to the park entrance and discretionary walking/hiking on varied natural surfaces within the park. There are inclines and approximately 15-20 steep steps on the optional hike up to Fort Rodney. The excursion is not recommended for those who utilize a wheelchair or have limited mobility. All participants must be in good health and free of heart, respiratory, back, leg, hip, or neck conditions. A waiver must be signed to participate. Children are welcome, provided they are supervised by a parent/guardian at all times. Wear flat, rubber-soled shoes and cool, comfortable clothing. Beach attire may be worn underneath and bring the change of cloth while wet clothing is not permitted on the coach. Bring along towels from the ship, insect repellent, and your preferred sun protection. No guide or food/drink is provided at the park; this is a self-directed activity.
