Excursion Coral gardener experience tour at Moorea

Join an inspiring and hands-on journey at the Coral Gardeners base in Cook’s Bay, PK7.5 Seaside. Your experience begins with a short bus ride the base, where you'll be introduced to the mission of the Coral Gardeners and their innovative methods for reef conservation.

Briefing and Snorkelling

Next, enjoy a 30-minute presentation that covers the importance of coral reefs, the organization’s goals, and the techniques used in their restoration efforts. Afterward, board the boat and depart from the Coral Gardeners base (about 15 minutes), heading toward the nursery and restoration sites at Tiaia–Maharepa.

For approximately 90 minutes, snorkel among actively cultivated corals at the nursery, participate in a coral activity workshop, and learn firsthand how they grow and replant corals to restore damaged reef areas. Share in their work and contribute to the preservation of the marine ecosystem through this interactive experience.

Coral Gardeners Base

Following the snorkeling and activity, return by boat to the Coral Gardeners base (around 15 minutes). The tour concludes with a 30-minute session of snacks and drinks, where you'll debrief with the team, visit the shop, and have the opportunity to purchase merchandise supporting reef conservation efforts.

Since 2017, the Coral Gardeners have dedicated themselves to saving the reefs by cultivating and transplanting corals, organizing awareness campaigns locally and globally. Join their mission—snorkel in the nursery, contribute to reef protection, and help safeguard the ocean’s future.

Note

Please note: This tour requires an extensive amount of activity and is recommended for guests who are in good physical condition, agile to get in and out of the boat/water, and able to swim and wade in shallow water. It is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilise a wheelchair. Wear a swimsuit under a cover-up with beach shoes or flip-flops suitable to wade ashore in the shallow water. Bring eco-friendly sun protection, towels and bottled water from the ship. Masks and snorkels (no fins) are provided but they are of a basic quality; we recommend guests bring their own. Guests must follow their guide's instructions at all times. Do not touch or handle the coral whilst snorkelling. Thsi tour does not operate on Saturdays and Sundays.
