Excursion Amami nature forest walk tour at Amami Oshima

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximate 45-minute drive will take to Amami Nature Forest Observation. This forest park has a great view from the observatory and selected as an Amami Island National Park. With your local nature guide, you may have change to find rare birds, plants and insects. From the highest observatory, you can experience a panorama view including the emerald blue, Tatsugo Bay,Mt.Yuwan and Kikaijima.


After the walk, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 60-minute journey back to the pier. On the way pause at Amami Cycads for photo stop. Amami Cycads grow naturally only in certain parts of China, Amami Oshima, and Okinawa. It has been utilized as boundary markers as well as windbreak plants for crops on Amami throughout history. Nowadays Amami Cycads are still incorporated into Amami cuisine in dishes such as 'nari-miso,' a type of miso that uses bits of the Sotetsu seeds.

Please note: This tour involves moderate-extensive amount of walking on uneven, inclined surface and around 100 steps at the Amami Observation Forest. This tour is not suitable for guests with guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. The view from the observatory depends on the weather.
