Begin with a 30 min ride in an open-air, island-style bus and travel to Leone village to the home and studio of famous loacal artist Regina Meredith and husband master traditional tattooist Wilson Fitiao.

Siapo: Also known as Tapa, is one of the oldest Samoan cultural art forms. For centries Siapo has been passed from generation. The canvas of the Siapo is a fine cloth known as the U’a. The process of preparing the u’a includes harvesting, stripping, seperating, scraping and beating of the mulberry bark.made from the bark of the Paper Mulberry Tree.

Here you will learn the history of siapo painting, bark beating, and how we get our traditional red brown and black color inks for our traditional arts. Paint your own piece of traditional art and take with you as a souvenier.

Please Note: This tour involves a moderate amount of phisical activity. Transfers are by open-air island bus with bench-style seats. Tour guides may be young locals without professional training. However, their knowledge, friendliness and enthusiasm are sure to add to your island experience. This tour is not  suited for wheelchair guests.
