Excursion Seawolves island tour at Punta Del Este
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
This special tour provides nature lovers the opportunity to watch seals and sea lions at their natural habitat; a nature preserve located less than six miles off Punta del Este. A catamaran will carry visitors to the island. This tiny island is home to the largest non-migratory colony of South American fur seals and southern sea lions in the world.
As the island has been granted natural preserve status, landing is not allowed. The catamaran will circle around to provide you with unrestricted view of the animals and plenty of photo opportunities. After about 45 minutes, you will return to the pier.
Note
Please note: Conditions will dictate how close the boats can get to the island. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility or suffer from seasickness, since the sail is across six miles of often choppy seas. Sport clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and bottled water are recommended. Rubber soled shoes are strongly suggested to safely board and disembark the boats. Landing on the island is not alowed. Guests are also recommended to bring binoculars (not provided). The sailing distance between the pier and the island is approximately 40 minutes in each direction.
