Please note: Swimsuits are prohibited in Japanese hot springs; guests bathe without clothing, as is customary. Guests with tattoos are not permitted to enter the hot springs. A small towel may be carried for modesty while outside the water but must be kept out of the bath itself. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and towels are provided, and baths are separated by gender but not private. The itinerary may vary for operational reasons, and local guides may speak with a strong regional accent, so flexibility is appreciated. This experience includes approximately 0.3 miles (0.5 km) of walking with gentle inclines. Cameras are forbidden inside the bathing area. Casual walking shoes are recommended.
