Scenic Island Drive

After a short walk to the bus, depart the pier by coach for approximately one hour scenic drive to Vela Luka.  Along the way marvel the views of the picturesque island of Korcula. The sixth largest island in Croatia, Korcula is 20 miles long and rather narrow, between 4 and 5 miles wide on average. This island is known for its dense forest and the ancient Greeks called the island Black Korcula (Kerkyra melaina) for this reason. The island itself is rich in art and culture, as well as beautiful nature. It features numerous secluded beaches and bays, small and uninhabited Archipelago consisting of sixteen islets as well as breathtaking views from the top of the hills.

Vela Luka, Zlokic Olive Oil Production, Olive Oil Tasting

If you like olive oil, then this is the tour for you. Upon arrival to Vela Luka, start the exploration with a visit to the Zlokic Olive Oil Production founded in 1995. This family is known for being one of the leading olive oil producers on the island. The family's collection boasts many old-fashioned tools for olive oil making, including a 15th century wooden olive press and an 18th century hydraulic compression system. The family's oil mill covers 700 square meters and gives the visitor the chance to understand more this elixir of the Gods.  As part of their facilities, the Zlokic Family has a "sports field" typical for Dalmatia used by the locals  to play the traditional game "Boce". After tasting the olive oil you will continiue your tour to the small town of Blato and the Barilo Family Museum.

Blato Town, Barilo Ethnographic Museum

The Barilo ethnographic collection offers a unique and unforgettable experience of the island and shows the life and the costumes of our ancestors. The ethno house Barilo with the ethnographic collection is exceptional for both Blato and the island. The objects were collected for many years and they come from all the aspects of life - there are elements of agricultural tools, formal clothing, furniture, traditional crafts and many more.

Toreta Winery, Wine Tasting & Local Snacks

The island exploration will continue with a visit to the Toreta Winery with wine tasting. This family boutique winery in Smokvica produces wines from indigenous grape varieties such as Posip, Rukatac and Plavac. The winery was named after the "Toreta" - field stone shelter that can still be found in some parts of Smokvica. This wine tasting will be enriched with a collection of equipment used by many family generations during the wine production.

Following your visit, re-join your coach for the return drive to the pier.
