Excursion Kerala backwater cruise with lunch tour at Cochin
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Begin with a morning ride via coach through India's most beautiful and tranquil landscapes to arrive at Alleppey, the "City of Canals" or "Venice of the East," located south of Cochin between the Arabian Sea and Lake Vembanad (India's longest lake).
Travel to a performance venue for a rare Kalaripayatta martial art display before reaching the highlight of the day, the Kettuvallum (house boat) cruise. Travel peacefully through the river, lake and canals collectively referred to as "the Backwaters."
Upon arrival in Alleppey, board your houseboat and set out on a three-hour idyllic cruise through the palm- shaded backwaters. Have a look at old colonial warehouses and typical thatched local homes. Brilliant green paddy fields where farming is done below sea level give way to views of village life and glimpses of churches, mosques and temples.
Your cruise will include a typical Kettuvallam (Kerala house boats) lunch.
Return to the pier at the conclusion of your Cochin adventure.
