Scenic Journey to Paladini Village

Depart Pula and travel through the tranquil Istrian countryside to the charming village of Paladini, home to the Karlic family and their renowned truffle-hunting dogs. Upon arrival, you are welcomed to the family farm before venturing into their private woodland, where black truffles flourish beneath the forest floor. Though hidden from sight, these culinary treasures are revealed by their distinctive aroma—and by the remarkable skill of the trained dogs who uncover them with ease.

The Truffle-Hunting Experience

The Karlic family’s truffle tradition dates back to 1966, when the business was founded by Ivan Raspolic near the lush Motovun Forest, once much larger than it is today. The region is celebrated for producing some of the finest white and black truffles in Istria, and the family’s heritage has been lovingly preserved through generations.

During your visit, your hosts will introduce you to the history of truffles in Istria and share stories from their own family legacy. Afterwards, enjoy a generous tasting featuring a selection of artisanal truffle specialties—each prepared by the family themselves. Sample Istrian cheese with truffles, truffle-infused sausages, truffle pâté, truffle honey, and truffle-flavoured olive oil.

The highlight of the experience is an interactive cooking demonstration of fritaja—Istria’s beloved scrambled eggs enriched with freshly shaved truffles. Guests are invited to take part in preparing this fragrant delicacy, making the experience both memorable and delicious.
