Gammel Estrup Castle
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 50-minute drive through the countryside en route to the Gammel Estrup Castle. The castle opened as the 'Manor Museum' in 1930. The permanent exhibition is based on the architecture of the castle itself, and its interior rooms. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the castle, then proceed to the 'Old Stable' for a traditional Danish pastry accompanied by coffee and tea. Afterward, some free time is made available for shopping.
Aros Museum of Art, Town Hall and Concert Hall
Next, re-board your coach and return to Aarhus via the countryside, then take an approximately one-hour sightseeing drive through the city en route to the pier. Along the way, pass by the Aros Museum of Modern Art and Concert Hall. On the opposite side of the street, see the spectacular Town Hall. Built in 1789, it is the smallest, unaltered town hall in Denmark.
Aarhus Cathedral
Additional sights to be seen include the beautiful, 800-year-old Aarhus Cathedral. At a height of 305 feet (93 metres), it is the tallest cathedral in Denmark and dominates the surrounding city.
