Excursion Downtown architecture walk & 9/11 memorial tour at New York

Beginning in Midtown, your guide will meet you at the Cruise Terminal for a short walk (10 minutes) along the Hudson River to Pier 84 where you will board one of the Water Taxis. The 40 minute cruise will include a commentary of The City, NY Harbour and an up close view of the Statue of Liberty. Getting off at Battery Park on the Southern tip of Manhattan, your tour guide will lead you on an architectural walking tour of lower Manhattan / Financial district. As you walk toward the World Trade Centre you will see many iconic places of the area such as the Wall Street Bull, the NY Stock Exchange, Wall Street and Trinity Church.

Arriving at the World Trade Centre you will enter the newly finished 9/11 Memorial. The Memorial consists of two massive pools set within the original footprints of the Twin Towers with 30-foot waterfalls cascading down their sides. The names of the 2,982 men, women and children killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 are inscribed in bronze on parapets around the edges of the Waterfalls. There will be approximately 1 hour to view and the 9/11 Memorial, the visitor's centre and the on-going construction of the site which when finished will be home to NY's tallest building, One World Trade.

Your tour guide will be there to answer questions and explain aspects of the construction. After the visit, your guide will take you for a short walk to board a coach which will take you back to the Pier.

Please note: This excursion involves a minimal to moderate amount of walking (1 mile through the city) and is not suitable for guests with limited walking difficulties or those who utilize a wheelchair. Light clothing, sun protection and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
