Excursion Crathes castle & highland cattle tour at Aberdeen
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Quay and travel 45 minutes through the breath-taking Royal Deeside to arrive at Crathes, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved castles in Scotland, with its fairy-tale turrets and fantastic gargoyles. It was home to the Burnett family of Leys for almost four centuries and during your visit you will see the Horn of Leys which was given by Robert the Bruce in 1323.
Beside the castle is the walled garden which is almost as famous as the castle itself and is home to beautiful borders, ancient yew hedges, a rose garden, a fountain and a glass house.
Departing Crathes, travel the short distance to Banchory and Aberdeenshire Highland Cattle to meet Grace Noble, the owner of this prize-winning pedigree herd of cattle.? Grace delights in sharing her passion with you as she guides you around her working farm and gives you an insight as to how these unique animals are cared for. There is also the opportunity to get up close and personal with the cattle, get your photograph taken or even groom them if you so desire.
After the tour enjoy a taste of what is considered to be the most delicious Premium Quality beef available, all thanks to the way Grace rears the cattle combined with the natural surroundings of the stunning Aberdeenshire countryside which creates a true Beef delicacy, like a fine dram of pure malt whiskey.
Return to the "Granite City" via the beautiful countryside of Aberdeenshire to your awaiting ship.
