Experience the magnificent Briksdal Glacier from up-close during this unforgettable, full-day sightseeing excursion with lunch.

Nordfjordeid, Nordfjord, Olden Village, River and Lake, Briksdal Valley & Mountain Lodge

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 2,5 hour drive to the Briksdal Lodge, with photo stops en route. Along the way, your route hugs the shores of Nordfjord before reaching the village of Olden. Continue along the Olden River, renowned for its salmon-fishing, and Olden Lake, which is situated between steep mountainsides and owes its emerald-green colour to the melting water from the glacier. Follow the shores of Olden Lake and up the Briksdal Valley, until the road comes to a stop at the Briksdal Mountain Lodge.

Briksdal Glacier Viewpoint via Troll Car, River, Steep Mountainsides, Waterfalls

The Briksdal Glacier is an arm of the Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier in continental Europe, and accessible via Troll Car from the Briksdal Mountain Lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge, leave your coach and board a Troll Car for the ride to the Briksdal Glacier Viewpoint. The path leading to the glacier runs along the river. Whilst driving to the glacier, you may enjoy the many small waterfalls running down the steep mountainsides.

Optional Walk to the Briksdal Glacier, Free Time

Upon arrival at the parking lot of the Briksdal Glacier Viewpoint, you can take an optional walk to the foot of the Briksdal Glacier, the last part over a moraine, towards a small lake. Here, some free time is made available to marvel at the breath-taking panoramic vistas, and enjoy wonderful photo opportunities of this amazing natural setting.

Lunch

Next, re-board your Troll Car and return to the parking place before proceeding for a well deserved Norwegian lunch.

After lunch, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 2-hour drive back to the pier via the Briksdal Valley, with photo stops en route.
