Cruise to Split and Diocletian Palace

Depart Hvar aboard of a speedboat for the scenic cruise to Split, a unique cityscape comprised of 17 centuries of building, rebuilding and remodeling. En route, pass by the southern coastline of Hvar and the Brac Islands. Upon arrival in the Old Town of Split, proceed to the Diocletian Palace. The core of this sprawling cityscape, the palace was built at the turn of the 4th century. What began as an imperial residence and fortified camp is today an intriguing warren of narrow cobblestone streets, where pre-Romanesque churches stand alongside Gothic chapels, history-filled museums abut galleries of contemporary art, and restaurants compete with bustling cafes for the attention of passers-by.


Cellars and Ethnographical Museum

Your guided walking tour of Split begins with a stroll through the very well-preserved cellars, which offer a unique insight into how life in the Palace was organized. From here, continue on to the Ethnographical Museum, which is actually situated in the Emperor's apartment in the very heart of Diocletian Palace. This interesting museum combines a beautiful medieval house with imperial rooms, houses a valuable collection of clothes, dresses and gowns, and offers a unique insight into life in Split throughout the centuries.


Lunch and Cruise to Hvar

Following your walking tour, proceed for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, some free time is made available for independent exploration before embarking your speedboat for the cruise back to Hvar and the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of activity and walking for approximately 600 yards (about 550 metres), at times over uneven surfaces, with up to 30 steps to negotiate at the sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests with back and/or neck problems, limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Some guests may find the speedboat ride intensive as it can be sometimes rough when certain weather conditions prevail. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Guests must be at least eight years old to participate on this tour.
