Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to the beautiful Kauai Coffee Estate. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour along a shaded, meandering path. En route, learn about Kauai's coffee history and the coffee grown at the estate, and pass by five different coffee varietals. In addition, observe the entire coffee process, from initial blossoming, through harvesting and processing, to the final roasting. Following your tour, proceed to the Visitors Centre for a complimentary sample of Kauai coffee accompanied by a special treat, a chocolate-and-macadamia nut cookie. Afterward, you can browse the gift shoppe to purchase a memento of your visit.

Kilohana Plantation, Narrated Antique Train-Ride, Sugar Cane, Taro & Fruit Orchards

Next, re-board your coach and head to the Kilohana Plantation, which began in 1864 and, at its peak, grew to over 22,000 acres (about 8,903 hectares) of sugar cane. Today, Kilohana spans over 40,000 acres (about 16,187 hectares), and your visit encompasses approximately 105 acres (about 42.5 hectares) of it. Upon arrival, your visit begins with a narrated, approximately 40-minute train-ride pulled by an authentic, 1939 Whitcomb diesel engine train. Whilst relaxing in one of two mahogany coaches, pass through and take in spectacular panoramic views of sugar cane, taro, and exotic fruit orchards, endangered Hawaiian trees, tropical plants and flowers, animal pastures, and more.

Rum Experience at the Plantation House by Gaylords, Company Store, Shopping

Following your antique train-ride, de-board the train and proceed on-foot to the the Plantation House by Gaylords. Upon arrival, enjoy a Rum Experience. Afterward, stop by the Koloa Rum Company and browse through showcases of Kauaian-made products for sale. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking and standing for approximately one mile (about 1.6 kilometres), at times over uneven, cobblestone, and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach, three steps at the Kauai Coffee Company, five steps at the Kilohana Plantation's train depot, and four steps to board/de-board the train. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, sturdy, and closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, insect repellent, a sweater or light jacket, umbrella, bottled water, and US Dollars or credit cards for purchases from the ship.
