Excursion Rainforest hike & piula cave pool tour at Apia

Depart the pier and drive uphill to the Vailima Botanical Rainforest National Reserve which encompasses about 12 hectares which protects a variety of native species of flora.
Commence you hike up the trail that was made to transport Robert Louis Stevenson’s body to his resting place on the top of Mt Vaea. The hike is approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) through a tropical rainforest, passing a magnificent banyan tree on the way up. The spectacular views of the Apia township and surrounding villages looking out to the horizon is an opportunity not to be missed.
Afterwards, enjoy a beautiful coastal ride to the famous Piula Cave Pool for a dip to cool off from your hike. Piula Cave Pool is a beautiful crystal clear freshwater spring pool and cave that originated from an old lava tube.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking, at times over uneven, gravel, and sandy surfaces, hills and inclines. This tour is recommended for guests who are in good physical condition and is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and bring sun protection and bottled water from the ship. Guests wishing to swim should wear a swimsuit under a cover up and bring a towel and a change of clothes from the ship. Guests wishing to snorkel should bring their snorkeling gear from the ship.
