Pointe-Noire is a key economic hub, with a deep colonial history, bustling markets, scenic beaches and important cultural landmarks. Start your tour in downtown Pointe-Noire, where you will find remnants of the French colonial architecture. The city was a major colonial outpost, and several buildings still reflect this heritage. Notable landmarks include Cathedral St. Pierre. Independence Square and Grand Marche. Enjoy a visit to Musée du Cercle African (African Circle Museum). The museum provides a glimpse into Congo’s rich history and cultural diversity. The museum is in a former colonial building that once served as a social club for Europeans during the colonial period and showcases a variety of exhibits, including Congolese art, masks, pottery and sculpture. Before returning to the port, visit the vibrant Grand Marché, where you can experience the bustling life of the city. This large, open-air market is a sensory overload of colors, sounds, smells, offering a wide variety of goods, from fresh produce to artisan craft and textile.

Local conditions may be challenging; therefore, we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit unique and somewhat remote destinations. A moderate amount of walking, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and local sides visited. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection is recommended.
