Meet Your Hiking Guide & Prepare

Your guide will brief you on safety, sign waivers, and provide essential information before beginning your ascent. Gros Piton rises majestically between Soufriere and Choiseul, with the village of Fond Gens Libre—Valley of the Freed People—nestled 700 feet up on its southern face, serving as one of the trail’s gateways.

Hike through a trail rich in natural and historical significance, passing caves and lookout points that date back to the days of brigands. The trail winds through three distinct ecosystems, showcasing a diverse array of flora and fauna, some endemic to the mountain.

Experience The Terrain & Scenic Views

Climb over large boulders and uneven terrain as you trek through lush rainforests. The hike offers breathtaking panoramic views of the island, lush vegetation, and the mountain’s unique ecosystems. Hiking duration is approximately 2 hours, depending on your fitness level. After descending the trail, reboard your bus for a scenic drive back to the Soufriere dock, carrying unforgettable memories of your ascent and the island’s natural beauty.

Please note: All  participating in this tour must be in good health and physical condition and not suffering from Heart, Respiratory, Back, Leg, Hip or Neck conditions. This hike is very strenuous, guests may be required to climb over boulders, very steep. It is recommended that guests wear cool, comfortable  hiking clothing, and flat rubber soled shoes, hiking shoes.  Few natural/ man made steps are set along the trail, unpaved, natural earthen trail. Minimum age is 13 years.
