Excursion Warnemunde on foot tour at Warnemünde

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Established in 1323, Warnemuende has been a fisherman's village since Medieval days.

Depart the pier on foot with your local tour guide on an exciting tour of this little village, lined with pretty fishermen houses along its quaint streets.

Nowadays, Warnemuende has become one of the most popular holiday resorts in Germany which you will experience during your stroll along the bustling promenades and piers, where mariners line the busy piers in the morning, either to sell their catch, or as a brief stopover during their Baltic journeys.

Continue past busy shops and many restaurants which adorn the beautiful one-storey gabled houses. Pass by the church of Warnemuende, a relatively young building from 1871, which is built in the typical red-brick-architecture of Northern Germany. Explore the white-sandy beaches where you'll hear about the history of the famous beach basket. Continue your walk to the 102-foot high lighthouse built in 1897/98, one of Warnemuende’s landmarks, from where you'll have an excellent panoramic view of Warnemuende, if you feel fit enough to climb those 135 steps. You may also stay downstairs and enjoy the hustle and bustle at the sea promenade.

Pay a brief inside visit to Warnemuende’s small local History Museum which is based in an old, local house from 18th century and which founded in 1914,

exhibiting the lives of fishermen, seafarers and the bathing culture of the coastal area.

During your walk through picturesque Warnemuende you will stop at a local Café for tea/coffee & cake before returning to the quayside.

Please note that the order of the tour may vary.
