Depart the pier for the short drive north to the Travel northeast to the Tierra Mayor Valley Natural Reserve. Upon arrival, proceed to the mountain refuge of Nunatak, receive your safety and hiking instructions and rubber boots, then begin your approximately 2-2.5-hour, guided trek through the scenic natural wonders of Patagonia.

Peat Bogs, Lengas and Cohiues Trees, Forests, Refreshments and Snacks

Your long, scenic trek crosses peat bogs, and passes trees such as lengas and cohiues that are hundreds of years old. Along the way, look for the foxes, condors and beavers that inhabit this area. Following your guided hike, return to the Nunatek Refuge. Upon arrival, you are welcomed with some hot chocolate, then served a snack consisting of finger sandwiches and local pastries with tea or coffee. At the conclusion of your tour, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 2-2.5 hours, at times over uneven, gravel, and natural surfaces and steep terrain, with two-three steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and 50 steps at the sites visited. This tour is recommended for active guests who are in good physical condition. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guest with neck and/or back problems, guests with heart and/or respiratory conditions, guests prone to seasickness, guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear warm, comfortable clothing in layers with flat, rubber-soled and closed-toe hiking shoes, and bring sun protection, a sweater or windbreaker, and a light raincoat from the ship; high-heeled shoes and flip-flops are not permitted. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. This experience takes place in a Natural Reserve environment. Guests are requested to respect local flora and fauna according to the local laws and regulations. Due to the type of terrain, guests must stay with the group. No independent exploration is permitted without an authorized guide. A restroom is available only at the Nunatek Refuge; guests can stay at the refuge. Operation of this tour is subject to weather conditions. The tour sequence may vary. A signed waiver is required to partecipate in the tour.
