Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland. With over 1,800 listed buildings, and as the hometown of architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Glasgow is renowned as being one of the most magnificent areas of 19th-century architecture. Some of Britain's best museums and galleries can be found in Glasgow, along with brilliant music venues and many delightful eateries. Upon arrival, take a panoramic orientation drive through the city centre. Along the way, your guide points out key areas of interest, including the historic Tolbooth Steeple, magnificent University buildings and Kelvingrove Museum.
Free Time for Sightseeing, Shopping
Following your introduction to the major sites of the city, continue to George Square and enjoy some free time to discover the city further at your leisure. George Square is not only Glasgow's oldest public square and the heart of the city, but it also boasts more statues than any other square in Scotland. You can explore historic sights, browse the shops and boutiques, and/or stop by one of the many pubs or cafés for food/drinks at your own expense. At the appointed time, re-join your guide and re-board your coach for the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.
