Discover the vineyards of Saint-Émilion and secrets to preparing regional French cuisine during this interactive cooking excursion with lunch at the Château Ambe Tour Pourret.
Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, Château Ambe Tour Pourret, and Wine Cellars Tour and Tasting
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Saint-Émilion, a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France. Saint-Émilion's history dates back to prehistoric times and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with fascinating Romanesque churches and ruins stretching all along steep and narrow streets. The Romans planted vineyards in what was to become Saint-Émilion as early as the 2nd century. Upon arrival at the Saint-Émilion vineyards, proceed to the Château Ambe Tour Pourret. The construction of this estate is splendid, with its tower, courtyard centre, hundred-year-old chestnut tree and a small vineyard.
Interactive Cooking Class
Your visit begins with a guided tour of the estate and its wine cellars. Learn about the estate's winemaking secrets, then proceed for a tasting of their renowned wines. Next, continue on for an interactive cooking lesson in the Château Ambe Tour Pourret's kitchen, where you are assigned your own hob and preparation space. Under the chef's guidance, learn how to cook regional French dishes utilising fresh seasonal ingredients, and assist in the preparation of an appetizer and a main course, or a main course and dessert.
Reception Room or Shady Courtyard, and Lunch Paired with Three Wines
Following your interactive cooking lesson, head to the reception room or shady courtyard for a relaxing lunch. Your meal consists of the dishes you have helped to prepare, and is paired with three of the château's wines. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 45-minute drive back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking and standing for approximately 219 yards (about 200 metres), with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and access the wine cellars. This tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Guests must be at least 21 years old to participate in tastings of alcoholic beverages. Your guide is present during the cooking class and lunch for any assistance, but does not participate in the class. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
