Excursion Petra by night tour at Aqaba

Depart the port in comfortable coaches and travel north along the Desert Highway. The last stretch is on country road through several small villages. The drive to Petra takes approximately two hours each way. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional Nabatean dinner at the Nabatean Cave Bar.

After dinner commence with a walk through the half-mile-long chasm (or siq). The long, narrow gorge with steeply rising sides lit with candles.

(the walk is in total about one hour and at the Treasury Monument you will be seated on ground).

Petra by night

More than 2,000 years ago, the site was occupied by the Nabateans. From caves in a rocky outcrop, they created their fortress city. The siq served as a defense as well as part of an incredible water system for the city of Petra.

Experience the magical atmosphere of a candle-lit visit to the rose-red city of Petra. The special aura of the ancient Nabatean trading empire comes to life as you enjoy a stroll through the mysterious Siq of Petra.

At Al- Khazneh (The Treasury), listen to music and stories and experience Petra just as the travel-weary traders of old must have known it. The excursion departs from the Petra Visitors Center at 20:30, returning at around 22:30.

Walk back to the main gate to re-join the coach for the 2.5-hour drive back to Aqaba.

Please note: This tour requires an extensive amount of walking through the half-mile-long (800 metres) defile and within Petra; in total about 2 hours, much of it on uneven ground. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilize a wheelchair. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Be aware that the weather is often unpredictable - it may be cool and windy among the rocks, but hot in open areas. Don't forget to bring a sweater or jacket for cool weather after sunset and remember your camera. We suggest you carry a bottle of water with you.

Guests will be seated on ground in front of the Treasury Monument. The duration of the drive between the pier and Petra is approximately 2 hours in each direction. Restrooms are of local standard and may fall below Silversea expectations. This tour is weather dependent and subject to last minute cancellation.
