Depart the pier for the short drive to the Old Town of Montevideo. Upon arrival, proceed to Independence Square, Montevideo’s most important plaza, then begin your guided walking tour along the narrow streets of the charming Old Town. Along the way, enjoy its quaint charm and marvel at the exquisite, 19th-century and 20th-century architecture and arts. Some of the impressive buildings seen during your walking tour were built during Montevideo's era of prosperity. At Zabala Square, the only fenced-in square in town, a monument erected in honour of the founder of the city of Montevideo, Jose Artigas, stands in the centre.

Next, view the Solis Theatre, built in 1856 and recently restored to its old glory. This impressive building is the centre of Montevideo's artistic activities. Your walking tour ends back at Independence Square. Upon arrival, see the former Presidential and Salvo palaces, then re-board your awaiting coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
