Excursion Northern lights at slating camp tour at Alta

Experience the mythical Northern Lights at Camp Pæskatun, situated on a mountain top with a fantastic view over the valley, and a dark winter sky filled with countless stars awaiting the appearance of the aurora borealis.

Camp Pæskatun

Upon arrival at Pæskatun your welcoming hosts will introduce you to the various activities you can enjoy during your visit. Warm yourself near a cozy campfire either outside or inside a lavvu, a Sami tent.

Slate Demonstration

Learn about the slate production at Pæskatun through a demonstration; and visit the slate cottages, which further illustrate the slate quarry and life in the North.

Northern Lights Briefing

An interesting Northern Lights presentation with history and myths will be given, along with a Northern Lights movie and photo display. There is no guarantee that the unpredictable Northern Lights will be visible, but with a little luck, clear night-time skies and sufficient solar activity will prevail, and you will be rewarded with a glimpse of this majestic wonder from the north!

Refreshments

Warm beverages and cake will be served throughout the evening and guides at the site will assist with photography.

Please note: It is recommended to dress in warm, layered clothing and wear comfortable walking shoes. The location covers approximately 300 meters and walking is at the individual's discretion. Snow is possible at this time of the year. There is no guarantee the Northern Lights will be visible.
