Experience the breathtaking beauty and wildlife of Zanzibar's sole National Park on this half-day trip to the Jozani Nature Reserve. Begin your journey from the pier with a picturesque drive lasting about an hour to the Jozani Forest Nature Reserve. The park features mangrove forests and saltmarshes to the north, creating a rich tapestry of Zanzibar's varied natural environment, serving as a sanctuary for rare, endemic, and endangered wildlife, including the red Colobus monkey. Other species you may encounter in this region are the Sykes monkey, bush babies, Ader's duikers, and hyraxes. The park is also home to over 40 bird species and more than 50 butterfly species. Upon your arrival, embark on a guided walk along a nature trail adorned with eucalyptus and mahogany trees. During your trek, discover the medicinal uses of different plants and admire the diverse animals, reptiles, birds, and butterflies that thrive in this tropical rainforest. The mangrove boardwalk will lead you over the swamps. After completing your rainforest adventure, return to your coach and begin the journey back to the port.

Please note: The driving time between the pier and Jozani Nature Reserve is approximately 60 minutes in each direction. This tour involves moderate walking and periods of standing, including stepping over uneven surfaces, making it less suitable for those with limited mobility. Zanzibar is predominantly Muslim; all guests should be conservatively dressed, with shoulders and knees covered. Photographing individuals in uniforms is strictly prohibited to respect their privacy and security. Always ask for permission before taking any photos of individuals. Please check with your guide if you are unsure about photographing someone. As in the tropics, the temperatures and humidity can be quite high. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection is recommended. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
