Excursion Jungle adventure at amazon ecopark (for in-transit guests only) tour at Manaus

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

This tour is available to in-transit guests continuing on to the following cruise.

Take a 1.5 hour boat ride up Rio Negro and Rio Tarumã towards the Amazon's vast natural park crisscrossed by numerous unexplored streams called igarapés. After a welcome drink, an experienced local jungle guide will lead you on an easily paced 1.5 hour walk into the forest. A large number of indigenous animals inhabit this area, including several species of monkeys and exotic Amazon birds. While keeping your vision poised for a chance to spot these wild creatures, your guide will also explain the jungle ecosystem, point out varieties of medicinal plants and give you some pointers on jungle survival techniques.

Continue your tour with a visit to the Center for the Rehabilitation of Amazon Primates, also called Monkey Forest. Established in 1991, the Center's objective is to re-introduce animals kept in captivity, or that have been rescued from areas of Brazil that have been flooded or burned as a result of development. Follow the steps of the re-integration of primates to the wild, from the time they arrive at the Center to the moment they are ready to return.

Stop for lunch in the panoramic restaurant decorated in rustic Amazon style where you will enjoy a buffet lunch of regional specialties. Afterwards, take a leisurely canoe ride to visit a native's house transferring to a river boat taking you down the Rio Negro and back to the Ship.

Note

Please note: This tour is available to in-transit guests continuing on to the following cruise. A 90-minute boat cruise to/from the Eco Park, with a moderate amount of walking for about 2 km (1.24 miles), a few steps to negotiate to embark/disembark the boat and walking over uneven surfaces with roots and some tree trunks along the way making this tour not suitable for guests with limited mobility. The local boat and traditional canoes are only with partial protection from the sun. Light clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Bring your swimming gear along as there is the opportunity to swim at the eco park pool. The tour sequence may vary.
