Tromøya Island Scenic Drive

Begin with the approximately 20 minutes scenic drive to Tromøya, one of the largest islands in southern Norway.

Bratteklev Shipyard

Boat making and shipping was an important part of the Norwegian industry and Bratteklev is the best preserved shipyard of its kind in the South of Norway.

This facility, originally a farmstead dates back to the 1870s, and portrays the peak of an industry that eventually had to leave way for larger boats and streamliners.

Tromøya Church, Raet National Park

Continue with a scenic drive, including photostops at the medieval Tromøya Church and at the spectacular rolling rock beaches of the Raet National Park.

Kuben Cultural History Museum

Reach Kuben, the Cultural History Museum, housed in a beautiful Swiss chalet style villa.

Visit various exhibitions within the Kuben museum like "Childhood", focusing on childhood history of Norway spanning three decades; the '60s, '70s and '80s. The exhibition, "Enslaved", reflects the horrific side of Norwegian history, and how the country was involved in the slave trade in the 1700s and 1800s. The Danish-Norwegian slave ship Fredensborg sank during a violent storm right outside the coast of Arendal.

A customed guide will guide you through the villa and the worker's home to show you how people lived in Norway in the 1800s.

"Munker"Pastry

Taste the traditional Arendal "Munker"pastry, baked in a special iron pan and browse the museum shop for local handicraft before returning to the pier.
