Excursion Gunung leuser national park tour at Belawan

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Depart the ship at dawn for the approximately 3-hour ride to Bukit Lawang, the access point to the Gunung Leuser National Park from the east side. On the way, a stop for breakfast and restrooms will be offered.

Upon arrival, start your approximately 2-hour trek in search of orangutans in the wild. Walk through a swinging bridge, rubber, cocoa, and coffee plantations. Apart from the Sumatran orangutan, there are eight other primate species present in the park you might have a chance to see during your forest walk. Please note orangutans sights are never guaranteed, but they are usually spotted. Enjoy local lunch before your journey back to the port.

Note

Please note: This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties as it requires an extensive amount of trekking for about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers), over uneven and natural terrain with some elevation. Walking shoes, light comfortable clothing (with long trousers), bug spray, and sunscreen are recommended. Orangutans sights are common but not guaranteed. Local conditions may be challenging, therefore we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit these unique, and somewhat remote destinations. Guides and transport are the best available in the area.
