Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Experience the scenic waterways and lush vegetation of the Amazon River during this memorable, half-day excursion to Boa Vista do Acará Island.
Depart the ship and walk along the river coast to embark a boat for a one-hour ride along some of the creeks, channels and narrow canals of the Guama River leading to Boa Vista. En route, see local canoes, fishing boats and other river craft make their way along the creeks of the great rainforest, as well as homes built on stilts.
Upon arrival at Boa Vista do Acará Island, take a guided, one-hour walking tour through the jungle. Along the way, marvel at the lush, diverse vegetation of the Amazon as your guide points out the different species of trees, fruits and seeds. You are invited to sample the fruit they bear, such as those from the cocoa tree or Brazil nuts.
Following your walking tour, embark the boat for the one-hour return ride to Belém, then walk back to the pier.
Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking through the jungle on uneven ground and dirt paths for approximately one hour. We recommend wearing comfortable, lightweight clothing and rubber-soled shoes. Please bring a hat and sunscreen. Getting in and out of the boat makes this tour unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility.
