Excursion Fjord safari by rib boat tour at Flam

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Travel the path of the Norse gods on this fast and exciting ride through the Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord, two branches of Sognefjord, one of the world's longest and deepest fjords that is filled with the most iconic, majestic scenery imaginable. This trip is for physically fit guests only who are ready to sustain a fast and bumpy boat ride.

Today's short excursion (just 2 hours in total) is a chance to race through the awe-inspiring Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord at a breathtaking pace for the full 90 action-packed minutes of your ride. Arrive at the landing stage for your Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB Boat) to receive a safety briefing on your boat and be fitted with a life vest and survival suit.

The first arm of the Sognefjord you travel through is the Aurlandsfjord , which stretches 17km, beginning in the village of Flam and ending at Mount Beitelen. This wide branch of the main fjord offers spectacular views of snow-covered peaks, waterfalls and farms that appear the same as they have for centuries or more.

The Aurlandsfjord gives way to the Nærøyfjord, named for the Norse god "Njord," the God of the Seafarer and the sea. UNESCO has dedicated this arm of the Sognefjord as a World Heritage Site for its exquisite natural beauty. Glacial lakes surround evergreen forests amidst jagged mountains and sheer cliff walls. Speed along past waterfalls and free-flowing rivers that cross the fjord, spotting marine mammals along the way.

Your crew plan to make many stops along the way to discover the natural beauty, culture and history of this striking region. At the conclusion of your thrilling ride, make your way back to the pier.
