Excursion Fairytale castle schwerin tour at Warnemünde

Depart Warnemuende by coach and transfer directly to “fairy-tale” Schwerin, where you will arrive after an approximately 90 minutes’ drive.

Upon arrival, you will be taken on a guided walk of the Old Town of Schwerin. Your walk will cover the main highlights, such as the historical buildings in the old town, the Mecklenburg State Theatre (widely regarded as one of the finest in Germany), the Medieval Schwerin Cathedral, an imposing Romanesque-Gothic red-brick building and the magnificent Schloss Schwerin, which is a picturesque palace located on an island and the capital’s most famous building.

After your exploration savour a traditional German pub-style lunch before enjoying some time at leisure in Schwerin’s center.

Continue to the Schwerin Lake and embark a boat for a picturesque 30 -minute cruise on the Lake surrounding the castle.

Afterwards, pay an inside visit to Schloss Schwerin, also referred to as the “Neuschwanstein” of the North by some, is most certainly the highlight of your tour - take a guided walk-through Schloss Schwerin and admire the beautiful interior. The gardens with their majestic beauty, will offer a stunning view of the castle, which was built on the foundation of a slavish castle and documenting the growth of power and wealth! Surrounded by the inner lakes the Schweriner See, Schloss Schwerin is indeed one of the most remarkable sights in Northern Germany.

Return to Warnemuende by coach in the late afternoon.

Note

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately one mile (1.5 kilometers), with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and embark/disembark the boat, and 60 steps at the castle.  This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair.  The castle is not wheelchair-accessible.  Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended.  Guests are advised to bring Euros for purchases of food, drinks or souvenirs.  Refreshments are available for purchase in the city of Schwerin if desired.  

Notes for guests

  • Due to the amount of walking we do not recommend this tour to passengers with walking difficulties or who are bound to a wheelchair.
  • Guests need to be able to climb in/out of the coach on their own.
  • Please note that the transfer time to/from Schwerin is approx. 1,5 hrs.
  • Shops will be closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays; only some souvenir shops, cafés and restaurants will be open.
  • Please note that not all shops/restaurants accept credit cards. If they do, the common cards accepted are Visa & Master Card.
  • Whilst the toilets in restaurants are usually free of charge, it is common to pay a 0,50 € admission. Public toilets usually cost 0,50- 1 €.

  • Guests should be sensitized that Germany has in general a lot of traffic in their cities and along the Autobahnen – Streets are constantly worked on/repaired/maintained especially during the Spring/Summer – therefore traffic/delays/negotiating traffic should always be expected.
