Excursion Evening experience at sami siida tour at Alta

Experience the life of the indigenous Sami people as you visit Sami Siida for a traditional Sami evening meal while possibly getting a glimpse of the mythical Northern Lights.

Sami Slida Camp

Just a short distance away by coach, you will arrive at Sami Siida where your welcoming hosts will invite you to experience their unique way of life. Learn about the significance of aurora borealis and the Sami culture, observe how they make their handicrafts, meet their reindeer, hear the sounds of the traditional joik or simply gaze into the night sky in hopes of witnessing the polar lights as they dance above you.

Traditional Bidos Reindeer Stew, Lavvu

You will also be treated to the Sami's traditional reindeer stew, called "bidos", and can warm yourself near a cozy campfire either outside or inside a lavvu, a Sami tent.

Your evening experience will conclude with the short drive back to the pier.

Please note: It is recommended to dress in layered clothing and wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour involves a minimal amount of walking of approximately 300 meters, mainly at guests' discretion and it is suitable to guests with walking difficulties and wheelchair users. Comfort stop available at the Sami Slida camp. Sights of the Northern Lights is not guaranteed.
