Excursion Alerce forest eco-walk & puerto varas tour at Puerto Montt

Explore the ancient alerce forests of southern Chile, home to some of the oldest living trees in the world. Native to this region, alerces can live for thousands of years and have been protected by law since 1976 due to their ecological and cultural significance.

At Lahuen Ñadi Forest, follow boardwalk trails through a lush woodland of towering alerce trees, accompanied by native beech, laurel, and myrtle species. This peaceful setting offers an opportunity to experience one of the region’s most distinctive ecosystems and learn about the importance of preserving these remarkable forests.

Puerto Varas, known as the "City of Roses," showcases the German heritage of Chile’s Lake District through its traditional architecture and lakeside charm. Time is available to stroll through the town, browse local handicrafts, and enjoy views of Lake Llanquihue and Osorno Volcano, weather permitting.

Please note: This experience includes approximately 1.2 miles (2 km) of walking on a combination of gravel paths, boardwalks, inclines, and steps, including approximately 20 steps throughout the tour. Comfortable hiking or walking shoes are recommended. Weather in this region is unpredictable, and rain showers may occur at any time of year. Layered clothing, breathable fabrics, a waterproof jacket, a hat, sunglasses, and weather-appropriate footwear are strongly recommended. The itinerary may vary for operational reasons.
