Alexandria, Citadel of Qaitbay

Depart the pier for the short drive to the Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th-century defensive fortress named after the Sultan that built it. The Citadel of Qaitbay is situated on the site of the ancient Pharos Lighthouse, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. After an exterior photo stop here, re-board your coach and continue on for another exterior photo stop at the Andalusian-style Abou Al Abbas Mosque, the most beautiful mosque in Alexandria.


Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Alexandria Library, Corniche Road, Alexandria Jewellery Museum

Next, re-board your coach and head to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located on the Corniche of Alexandria. After an exterior photo stop here, proceed for another exterior photo stop at the nearby Alexandria Library, which was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. Leaving the Alexandria Library, drive along the Corniche Road en route to your final stop, the Alexandria Jewellery Museum. During your visit, view stunning displays of the collectibles of the Egyptian royal family, which was founded by Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1805 and continued to rule for 150 years, until 1952. Your tour concludes with a short drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour requires a minimal to moderate amount of walking, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and 35 steps at the Alexandria Museum visited. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility, as the walking and standing activity is at guest's discretion, and for guests that utilise a foldable wheelchair who are able to get in/out of the vehicle on their own or with the assistance of their travelling companion. Foldable wheelchairs and walkers can be accomodated. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection, insect repellent, a sweater or light jacket, bottled water. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. Guests must carry their passports and ship's ID at all times. Cellphone camera photography is permitted at all venues, but a $50 EGP fee is required for guests utilising a camera at the Alexandria Museum. Coaches, guides, hotels, restaurants, equipment, and services are the best-available in the area, but may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions. The tour sequence may vary.
