Excursion Stellenbosch winelands tour at Cape Town

Enjoy a full-day (6.5-hour) guided tour of the wine country of the broad, fertile Eerste River valley, complete with wine tastings. Explore the town of Stellenbosch, home to a major university, and characterized by Cape Dutch-style architecture and streets lined with oak trees, some of which have been declared national monuments.

Embark from the pier and board your coach for the 45-minute drive to Muratie Wine Estate.

Experience a wonderful wine tasting followed by a delicious 3-course lunch. Learn about Muratie's rich history and the many generations that have lived and worked here. Visit the buildings and artifacts, and see the trees, even the shrubs, that reflect the colorful past while reaching towards an ever more fruitful future. After absorbing the atmosphere of the estate, step into the Tasting Room and savor the essence in each of the wines sampled.

Reboard your coach for the short drive to the town of Stellenbosch. Enjoy a half-hour orientation drive through of Stellenbosch, "Town of Oaks," founded by Governor Simon van der Stelin 1679, making it the second oldest town in South Africa. See the university town famous for its carefully preserved architectural heritage, including examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian styles. Discover Dorp Street, lined with houses, cottages, and shops. View the rows of oaks and open spaces, where lines of trees against the white walls diffuse the heat of summer, and transform the streets into soft, shady tunnels. Stay cool under the oaks that have been proclaimed national monuments.

Continue driving to Waterford Wine Estate for a one-hour wine and chocolate/SALT pairing. Discover the picturesque Blaauwklippen Valley in the world-renowned Stellenbosch region where Waterford Estate is located. Experience this estate that adheres to the adage "less is more," where nothing is pretentious or ostentatious, and the visual impact complements the surrounding natural beauty.

Once your wine tasting has concluded, return to your coach for the one-hour drive back to the pier.
