Excursion Become a jordanian chef tour at Aqaba

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover the secrets to preparing superb Jordanian cuisine with an experienced chef during this interactive, half-day cooking excursion with lunch.

5-Star Hotel, Jordanian Tea

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to the 5-star hotel where your Jordanian cooking lesson takes place. Upon arrival, you are welcomed by your local chef and served Jordanian tea. Jordanians believe that you must feel inspired and content to create and cook beautiful food; today, savour the warmth and smiles that are central to Jordanian hospitality and a memorable cooking experience for all.

Interactive Jordanian Cooking Lesson

Next, proceed to the kitchen and begin your interactive Jordanian cooking lesson in which your guide serves as a translator for the chef. Your chef begins by assigning tasks to you and the rest of the guests as the preparation for the meal gets underway. Feel the energy in the kitchen as you work all together, chat with your host, and learn about their life and Jordanian cuisine. You can also try your hand at learning the names of the ingredients in Arabic, which is sure to impress your guests when you recreate the meal once you are back home. Whilst the meal is cooking, you can sit back and relax in the company of the host's family.

Jordanian Lunch with Your Host, Chef and Their Family

When it is ready, enjoy the Jordanian meal you have helped to prepare. Dine with your fellow guests, host, chef and any of the chef's family members who may be present. You are encouraged to eat until you think you are full. It is at that time you are told, "Al-ḥamdu lillāh", which is spoken when your host insists that you eat yet another serving to ensure a very satisfied stomach. This is followed up with "Sahtein", another phrase meaning 'to your health'. After your meal, Jordanian tea is served. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.
