You will explore the city centre, also called Kvadraturen due to its square layout, passing the majestic Kilden concert hall to the lively fish market. After leaving the pier, your guide will provide information as you continue along the itinerary which includes the seafront, Christiansholm Fortress, with its old cannons and spectacular views of the marina and the ocean. You will discover Posebyen, the only part of the ancient city left intact after the fire of 1892 which is characterized by colorful old buildings and an impressive collection of original white wooden houses. From here, you will reach the northern part of the city and the Baneheia nature park which offers a splendid panoramic view of the city from its old fire lookout and will delight all photography lovers. Developed at the behest of General Wergeland who had his soldiers plant numerous trees in the 1870s/80s, it is a green oasis that you can explore along winding paths and vegetation rich in animal life. Returning to the city center, you will end the tour on the "Markens" shopping street, continuing towards the splendid Cathedral which stands near the Market Square. With its cafes and local farmers' stalls selling fresh fruit, vegetables, homemade jams and honey in the summer months it is undoubtedly the ideal place to spend some time and, if desired, buy some typical products. Once the guided tour is over, you can choose whether to return to the ship with the guide or stay in the city and return on foot later.
